Playa Junquillal is a long, windswept beach that, for much of its length, is backed by grasslands. There is really no village to speak of here, and the road is rough, so it’s a good place to “get away from it all” and enjoy a nearly deserted beach. When the waves are big, Playa Junquillal is great for surfing, but can be a little dangerous for swimming. When the sea is calm, however, the beach is good for swimming. Frommer’s calls this place “a nearly undiscovered gem”.
